In the spring of 2015, I attended a life changing floral design workshop called Team Flower at the North Carolina Arboretum. I worked with Kelly Perry of Philosophy Flowers to gain new insight on sourcing materials, designing events, color palettes, client relationships, botanical studies, and building a brand. I feel so fortunate to be at a stage in my career where I can invest in these kinds of opportunities - not only for myself, but to pass on to my clients as well. In addition to working with Kelly, I also received instruction from Ashley Beyer of Tinge Floral and Holly Carlisle of Rosegolden. I created my own bridal bouquet, centerpiece, hair crown and boutonniere, and was also able to witness the talents of my team of instructors for additional tablescape designs throughout the week. It was beautiful to connect with so many peers in the industry and to make new flower friendships. We had a dizzying array of flowers to choose from, including peonies, garden roses, geranium, daffodils, magnolia branches, orchids, antique carnations, dogwood blooms, viburnum, sword ferns, sweet peas, spirea, solomon's seal, and fritillaria.
